After years of MB and Range Rover ownership, my wife and I just purchased our first Volvo. We are proud owners of an '01 XC70.
I just wanted to introduce myself and let you know I will be coming here for advice and answers along the way!

Welcome to a good group of people--unlike other sites, comments are friendly and helpful. You'll feel like you know everyone in a short period of time. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif merv

I agree with mrb, people are really nice here and excepting. I don't have a XC just a regular V70 AWD and I feel very welcome. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif

That's a nice stable of cars. May I ask what steered you away from MB and Range Rover? Their loss is Volvo's gain.

Welcome to this great site. It sure is the best resource for the XC's! And a great bunch of people indeed http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

Don't forget to post the details (and pics) of your new beauty in the "XC roll call" (one of the fixed v70xc threads )

Don't hesitate to ask your questions here, but also use the search engine as a lot of questions have been asked, and answered.

The MB was a C-Class. Just too small for a family of 4.
The last Range Rover (96 4.0SE) was certainly big enough but
just too expensive to maintain as it got out of warranty. We chose the Volvo because it is AWD, safe and big enough for the family, and it isn't an SUV. We looked at the Audi Allroad as well, but it seemed too complicated (dash/controls-twin turbo-pneumatic suspension) and it wasn't as big as the XC.

Welcome to the forum!!!

I saw a Range Rover in Thousand Oaks Ca a couple months ago that was bright orange and all decked out with off-road lights and racks, the works.

I sat and drooled over it for over 15 minutes, looking over every inch I could see. What a beautiful truck!!

Of course, an XC70 ain't too shabby either...

Another newbie here... getting a used '03 XC on Dec. 18th.
Like to DIY, so I'm sure I will need lots of technical help over the next couple of years. Anxious to read about the troublesome areas and what to look out for on this, my first Volvo. Had Turbo Saabs for 20 years, but their inability to come out with AWD turned me off.

The one that got away. What a shame. I'm still smitten with its big brother, the Interceptor. I don't know why that car hooked me, and it doesn't bother me a bit.

Remember the Jensen FF? Way ahead of its time and perhaps a distant cousin/ancester to the XC.
