Haldex?

I've seen Haldex mentioned in the ongoing DSTC thread, but I've no idea what it is. Can anyone explain?
For the record, our new 2004 XC did not come with DSTC.

Haldex is the brand name fo the company who makes the electronically controlled AWD system for Volvo. If you search the site for haldex, you'll find many posts about this subject.

Haldex has a nice web site that describes the system. It is now used by quite a few auto companies.
