New Volvo owner - bought an '01 V70 XC last week. 30K miles, black w/tan leather, touring pkg, real nice condition. Nicest used '01 that I looked at. I've lurked around this site for awhile, and want to say thanks to all for the useful insight that was so helpful in my vehicle search.
As it turns out, my vehicle was originally purchased new in California. Roughly three years after purchase, the original owner turned it back in to Volvo under the lemon back buy law. This law in California is slanted towards the consumer for sure, and makes it pretty easy to get the manufacturer to buy back your vehicle. Our vehicle had supposed tranny issues - I have the service records for the vehicle which shows the valve body being replaced as well as the entire transmission at a later date, all of the other routine maintentance was done along the way which included brakes. After all of that, Volvo buys it back, tinkers with it and somehow puts 4K miles on it before selling it auction to a dealer here in Minnesota. Knowing what I know now about this car, I'm comfortable with my decision to buy it although I'm sure I'll get pushed to bottom of the list at the dealer when I need to have it serviced . . .
I look forward to dialing this thing in, like I say, mechanically it seems good. It has some new Goodyear Aquatred III's on it which might be suspect for use up here in MN, but at least they're fresh. I'm a fan of Continentals, we swap between SportContacts and Blizzak's on the Audi which is an ideal setup for that car. I'm liking the possibilty of the ExtremeContacts for the XC for all season use, or those Nokian WR's I've read about on this site.
Has anyone out there bought a lemon law buy back vehicle? Experiences?
Thanks.
