Today I noticed that something was hanging down on the passenger side of my car, underneath the engine. I took a closer look and discovered a piece of rubber foam. Part of it still was squeezed between the skid plate (factory installed; order number 000230 - Protection grating for engine  ) and the frame. It appeared to me, that it was glued onto the skidplate to function as a cushion between the plate and the frame because the same type of material is on the other side. The reason why it came loose is the gap between the plate and the frame on this side. The distance between the plate and the frame on the other side is smaller. The rubber foam is kind of squeezed in between.

I have a question now for all the owners with this type of skid plate (protection grating for engine): Would you please take a look (if you don't know) and see if you also have this stripe of black rubber foam on it? Thank you. I checked to see if the bolts on this side came loose but they are tied.

Here are some pictures for better understanding(One shows the drivers side and three pictures show the passenger side).

Are these stripes of rubber foam necessary ? To eliminate vibration ??
Any ideas ?

Thanks
