Anyone find the "faux wood" g-box and door trim a little cheesy? The black masking in the door pull is susceptible to scuffing and wearing to reveal the fake wood/plastic underneath. I fount this advertised on the Borton Volvo (www.borton.com) web site. (see attached) It's listed for the 2001+ S60/70. I have an e-mail into them to see if the kit is available for the XC. A cool upgrade if available! It should also wear better then the faux wood/plastic. Anyone else have information or experience?

Yes,
Art pioneered that one on this board and I followed his instructions to go the same route. It's about a 3-4 hr DIY job. I think the results are great. Just check Art's and my photo album for some pics.

As far as wear goes, just be carefull when retracting the seatbelts: I have a tiny dent already on the passenger side. (No honey, no fingerpointing here....)
:p

Here's the link to Art's great instructions:Aluminum inlay installation (http://www.xc70.com/pics/thumbnails.php?album=106)

Resurrecting an old post.
I'm looking to replace the wood trim (glovebox and doors) with aluminum.

Does anyone have the instructions to replace the door and glovebox trim? The link to Art's instruction is dead (due to age of the post?).

Thanks.

The alu looks so much better. I would think it would look really good in an all back interior.

I don't know why carbon fiber weave look is still hot. The bike industry is finally giving up on the 90s look. Top road stuff now long carbon layers and they have stopped putting the fake weave look on the outside as it only ads weight.
