summer volvo discounts in previous years

What type of discounts have you seen in previous years just before new model year shipments? I would like to see another colleague make a purchase before the current special expires Tuesday, but she wonders if this is an "every summer thing>"

I don't think it is, but I don't car shop often!(usually every 14-20 years!)

I know this year Ive heard upto $5K off 2004 and I remember them trying to talk me into a 2003 lasy year with the same sort of deal when I was shopping for my 2004.

But it could just be chicago.. the place is not excatly teaming with xc70's like I saw when I visited the bostom area.

I think it really varies from year to year, so many factors involved. FWIW, we bought a MY2002 in August of 2002 a month before the 2003 models were due and got $6900 off the sticker.

Don't know if it's just good this year, but I just got a 2004 XC70 on Thursday (8/26/04) for $9k off the sticker price from dealer in SF Bay Area, CA plus a $1k AAA discount .

can you give more info on the AAA deal. I contact AAA and Volvo and they said the offer was not available in California.
