Anyone used any of the following:

Steel Cargo Barrier: http://www.volvopartsworld.com/v70-2h.htm
Steel Cargo Divider: http://www.volvopartsworld.com/v70-2i.htm
Cargo Area Gate: http://www.volvopartsworld.com/v70-2j.htm

Debating all of the above, or just buying a traveling dog crate for the back.

I noticed that the nylon cargo net indicates it's primarily designed for protection for front seats when rear seats are folded down.

As always, many thanks to the folks on this forum!

We just use the nylon mesh one and it serves it's purpose well by keeping the dogs in the rear. It is very solidly constructed and is easily stowed away in either of the rear floor storage areas. In our other Volvos we have the steel "gate" type mounted to the ceiling. In those cars they swing up and can be locked into position when hauling bulkier objecs. I must say that it is easier to see through the steel ones rather than the nylon mesh when viewing in the rear view mirror. Or maybe I just need to grow accustom to it.
The nylon mesh ones can be had on E-bay for next to nothing. I just bought one last month for 21.00. :D......and with a deal like that how could you loose?

The nylon cargo net does fit behind the rear seats as well. Our dog, would come through it when she wanted so we installed the steel cargo barrier. The nice thing about it, compared to aftermarket is that it rotates up agains the roof. There are 2 problems with it. In order to allow it to rotate, it is not formed very close to the side window when in the down position. When motivated by a thunderstorm our medium-sized dog was able to squeeze through.

Some aftermarket barriers that mount between the headliner and floor have trombone slide type pieces that can be adjusted closer to the side windows.

The other problem with the Volvo barrier is that, in the up position, it makes loading some larger boxes or items difficult or impossible that otherwise would fit in the wagon.

Those are the problems, but overall I like the barrier.

The dog crate is safer and less expensive IMHO.
