So, while on the lift, I noticed that my inner front brakes are not completely contacting the rotor. Mechanic said that it may be due to old rotors. Easy enough to change rotors and pads...BUT...should I change the brake hoses? It's messy and I am doing it solo (without a bleeder system...just a wife to assist in pedal pushing). Help me get off the fence on whether to change them or not... Couldn't hurt, right? Just messy.

Brake hoses have a life of about 10 years. Beyond that, you get weird symptoms, like brakes that won't retract - and stay stuck on, or brakes that won't engage, or brake hoses that just plain blow out.

I would replace them if you're unsure of the age. Get a Motive Power Bleeder for about $60 on Amazon, and both you and your wife will be much happier...
