Hi Everyone,

I've looked around multiple volvo forums and have yet to get definitive clarity on this question. I'm hoping one of us has first hand insight before i make my purchase on new summer tires.

I'm the proud new owner of some second hand OEM 18" peg wheels.

i believe stock tire size for the S60R or V70R calls for 235/40/18.

In norther New England, roads are less than perfect late spring and through summer, to avoid any issues with bend/crack rims, curb rash etc, I plan to deviate from the stock "called for" tire size.

therefore i would like to have a 245mm width & 45mm profile, ultimately a 245/45/R18 tire.

My 2006 xc70 is currently stock suspension height. From everything i read it sounds like 245/45 should fit, but again there was some ambiguity.

Would anyone here be able to clarify for certain before I invest in new tires?

thank you.

I think a 245 section width will rub and hit suspension components. It’s only going to fit if the offset is perfect. A 235 width barely fits and will rub if the control arms are not equipped with the proper bump stop on the P2 cars. R models have that stop.

XCs don’t have bump stops, so I think you’re going to have problems going over a 235.

“Everything I read” eh? Well, only way to know is to try, but I wouldn’t spend the $$ to try, personally, because I think it’ll be too wide.

235/55R17 will fit. Barely. Guys have done that. But 245s? Let us know how you make out.

They’re also too short, by the way. You would need about a 245/50R18 to keep the same diameter...

thanks for your insight, Astro.

agreed, last thing i want to do is spend money on 245's and take a chance...

Anyone here ever ran Pegasus 18" wheels on a P2 xc70, with 245/45/18 tires, on stock suspension?

Again, hoping to get first hand clarity before investing.

Otherwise - i'll likely just move forward with 235/45/18

thank you all.

This forum has really slowed down. I would check on Swedespeed, there is much more active group. Facebook has a lot of groups with Volvo and even specifically XC70. I still like getting on these forums, but they seem to be dying with Reddit and Facebook groups.
