Hello everyone. I’m in the process of doing a stage 0 tune on my XC70. I’ve read in several forums that the standard plastic charged air pipe develops micro cracks with age. Rather than replacing it with a new plastic pipe, I was wondering if I could buy a used R series metal pipe and install that instead? I’ve already got the silicon replacement ends regardless of which direction I go.

To me it appears that there is no real difference in sizing, has anyone done this before?

Thanks!

The metal R pipe does not use a flexible coupler at the turbo.(and the r uses a larger turbo) Here's a used pipe for sale

Well, I've yet to see a crack on my XC, which at over 250,000 has the most miles of my P2 Volvos. I would recommend the IPD couplers, and a careful inspection of your charge air pipe. Be forwarned that it's not easy to get the charge air pipe to intercooler coupler on there...
