only around at 1200 rpm, then it smooths out for the rest of the drive. Noticeable at cold engine.

Check your resonator - "middle" muffler..........they go bad and start to rumble....just replace with a straight pipe....

I have the same issue. I replaced the upper motor mount. I noticed my res was 'peeling' its outer layer. I removed that outer layer but still getting the same issue. Is there an easy way to check that on a car that's off?

You should be able to lay on you back and stick your head under the car by the doors and hear it. Or jack it up and put it on JACKSTANDS, not the jack, and roll under there and listen. If you put it up on jackstands you will also be able to visually inspect for any holes, rot etc.
