Hi Everyone,

temps are dropping here in Vermont, my heat is working great in all vents & floor.

highway drive this morning, i noticed cool air that seemed to be leaking underneath the steering column. needless to say my legs & knees were cold in a few minutes and i had the heat turned up quite a bit to stay warm.

Has anyone had this issue, or can recommend what to check out for fix?

Trying to tackle this prior temps dropping further.

thank you.

Inspect the brake pedal push rod where it channels through the firewall, is the weather-seal intact?

Has anyone removed the transmission or front sub frame recently?

If so the seal where the steering column goes through the firewall becomes dislodged and allows air and noise from underneath the car.

Even without subframe removal, I once had to reseat that steering shaft seal/boot on the 2002 T5.

It just came off, I guess. The other two cars haven’t required it.

But that car did...

i did have an IPD front anti sway bar installed back in February, i believe that is when i began noticing some of the cold air in the cabin, i'll try to check the steering column seal soon.

the brake pedal seal, i have checked this and confirmed this is not the issue.

thank you, i'll report back with an update.

The subframe has to be moved to get to the sway bar

thanks for confirming Hoonk.

I've yet to have time to take a look at this steering shaft boot to confirm if this will fix the issue.

Does anyone know if it's easily accessible or do i have to pull apart the dash?
