Well, the CD changer costs $800 - is there a way to install a less expensive aftermarket changer that just fits right in? Have any of you done this? Or know how? Thank you.

You could adopt an MP3 player with cassett adapter plugin or FM modulator and have thousands of tunes at your finger tips. Consider an Apple Mini iPod or the bigger White iPod plus the iTrip or Cassett adapter. The music quality isn't up to same standard as the CDs but IMO it's OK considering all the other noises you get in the car.

Hooking into the complex Volvo CAN electrical system is a nightmare. If you do find an alternative Volvo source for the CD changer make darn sure they know what they're doing and get previous refs to check them out.

BTW -- Volvo claims/states they will have connectivity for the likes of Apple's iPod in 2005. We will have to wait and see how this turns out. I'm an iPod owner and I'm keeping fingers crossed. :)

Good luck.
