Interesting... definitely looks like it's a photoshop based on the S40 but a good effort on what it might look like.

Really looking forward to seeing this vehicle. Interest is growing daily and I'm just about to set up a new forum for the new car.. will definitely be the most popular XC model in terms of sales, being a lower price point than the other two models. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

In fact.. I'm moving this thread to the new forum now http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Attached photo inft posted didn't make the move over.. here it is:

If I'm seeing correctly -- it looks like the headlights are cleaned via a pressure washing system -- do others see this in the pic as well ?

This latest pic is a far cry from these

and this one http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

Maybe it is just me but when I glanced at this photo my first thoughts were that it resembled a VW Passat Wagon.

Then I noticed the front end and realized I was looking at a Volvo. I'm sure this is going to be a good seller for Volvo but the car in the photo seems plain and not distinctive.

This is a car I will need to see in real life before I can make a judgement on its styling. When will it be in the showrooms?

Looking at the photos of the new V50, the picture of the XC50 can't be far away from the opcoming model, allthough some suspected it to be a Photoshop "masterpiece".

Funny how they also chopped out the edited "Planet Wood" signage too.

If the real car is that nice looking it will be a great success!  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Friday 21st November 2003: Volvo Ditches Plan For Baby Off-Roader

Having put the finishing touches to its 3-Series-rivalling S40 and V50, Volvo has taken the shock decision to axe the XC50 Land Rover Freelander rival. Despite the success of the XC90, Auto Express's Car of the Year, bosses will concentrate their efforts on developing the C50 coupé, to be produced in conjunction with Pininfarina. Meanwhile, engineers are also working on a flagship V8-engined XC90 to take on powerful versions of VW's Touareg and Porsche's Cayenne.
