What do you think the XC50 is going to look like... a wagon like the 70 or more of an SUV like the 90?

Here's an official Volvo photo, but there is no mention of this being an XC50 prototype, just a design exercise:

Humm.. Well looking at the soon to be released V50 "SportsWagon" (http://v50.vcc.volvocars.se/flash/default.asp), I wonder where the XC50 will be positioned. Will it be more "crossover" than SUV? How much will it cost? Judging by the actual V40, my guess is the price will be more in the $40,000 CDN. We'll see http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif !

I like the different pic of it on the street (Photoshop?) This one looks very small, maybe aligning itself (competing) with the Ford Escape or the small Range Rover? Lexus?

Is Volvo hurting themselves by offering too many choices (is that even possible?) or offering something for everyone? Saturation or dilution?

I think VOLVO being part of PAG, will borrow many XC50 components from the Freelander or Escape.
But one thing for sure they will keep is the Volvo engine.
I'm sure many unseen components like wiper motors...etc
will be shared.
Just like the Jaguar X-type sharing many components with the new Ford Mondeo. It's all part of whats going on inside the PAG.

I think the new XC50 will be more like a cross over AWD-SUV, rather than a small true 4WD-SUV like the Freelander or Escape.
Don't think we'll see the HDC from the Freelander in the XC50 either. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/laugh.gif

I do look forward to it's launch though, I quite like the photoshop picture. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
