Wow Thomas, truly is an excellent price, should have no trouble selling it at that. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Not sure how the Volvo market is in Quebec but assuming it's in good shape, here in BC that'd probably sell within 5 minutes of your posting!

For reference, Vancouver Volvo dealer Docksteader has a silver 98 with 115,000Km for almost 11,000 more... $32,999.00. When the rare 1st gen XC's come up for sale around here sometimes they're usually a bit lower, but generally around the same range.

thank you Taylor, It is amazing!! I should move on the West Coast now! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

The dealer is ginving me 20000$ in exchange, so I'm trying to get a better price. The car is in perfect shape, I spent more than 4000$ in the past 2 years to fix the little things, so the car is ready for a ride from here to 2010 or later.

Unfortunately it is not so easy to sale a Volvo here, especially a XC. People are not too attracted by the Cross Country, indeed not ready to pay more than 20k for an used Cross Country. The Outback is far more popular.

People are not paying much attention to the XC in Quebec. My little theory: people don't see the XC as they're looking at the Outback, as an outdoor 4WD station wagon. It sounds like most people think Volvo is made for elders or upper-class quite families.

Marketin is needed over here http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Thomas:

Yes -- my daughter and I are already looking at your offer. The car is located in Quebec, Canada, right ? It's setup for Canadian auto laws and metric computer readouts probably as well, right ?

The price $22,000 Canadian (USD$14,388) sounds reasonable.

Of course I can't say what my daughter will decide at this time but a few more pics might help -- inside and out.

Thanks.

Yes Barry, I live on the south shore of Montreal. Of course the car is set up in metric, for Canada, but the wheel is on the left side http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif am I on the right side? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif

Seriously, I am going to take as many photos as I can this weekend and post it here or to you. I kept all the invoices. I have done all service intervals. The previous and first owner was also very precautious.

I don't know what it takes to sale a car outside the country. The car is under the name of my business, I am the only owner of HYAD inc. My accountant will probably know what to do if your daughter is interested.

Of course, you are welcome to come to see the car and visit us, don't be affraid, apart the french accent, the separatists are now gone (my best friend was one of the former PQ prime minister adviser, he lost his job last monday as the prime minister Bernard Landry)

Thomas:

We look forward to the pics. My daughter is a bike rider and downhill skier so those cross bars would be useful -- are they square and Thule compatible? She also has a Fox Terrier she loves to take everywhere -- so take a pic of the rear cargo area for her.

Let me know what your accountant says with respect to money transfers between Canada and USA -- selling taxes etc would be good to know about. I assume there's no warranty of any kind on the car as its around 75,000 miles.

Thanks.

Thomas

With that sense of humour I`d certainly be coming to look at your car if I was in the market (and a tad closer, of course).

I have the same model as you here in the UK with a similar mileage and thoroughly enjoy the motor. Yours looks a cracking colour and is priced (believe it or not) virtually identically to a UK model of the same vintage. Similar problem here in the UK as with you; Want an estate? Buy a Volvo. Want a four wheel drive estate? Subaru dealer, here we come.

Good luck with the sale. I hope it`s what Barrys daughter wants. I`ve certainly got no regrets buying mine and I know XClogan and Budrichard will testify to their XC`s of similar age as well.

Cheers.

you are welcome to come anytime, in french my sens of humour is not in "translation mode" http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif

This car is trully amazing, I love this Cross Country 1998 sand stone I would have kept the car for years, but all of a sudden, during a winter night when it was snowing with a high wind and the bulb burned continuously all night long , I had a dream.

In this dream, I saw a man, this man was driving a Blue Nautic XC70 2004 across the desert, ocean, space... the final frontier. This man survived the road to go back home to drink a 30 years Offley Porto and write a best seller about its tremendous XC adventures all over the galaxy. This man, this man was me. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/alien.gif

Yes, sometimes my head is a little http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif twisted?

Now, I need to http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sleeping.gif another dream this time about the XC 70 model year 2012 is awaiting for me.

Hello Barry, the pictures are not too good but I will post more photos next week.

I have published a little web page, from now on, the pictures of my Volvo V70XC 1998 are available on this web page:

Volvo Cross Country 1998 for sale (http://www.hyad.com/barry)

It sounds like someone has puched the car left side - as you can see on the picture. This is a small bump but I prefer people to be aware of it.

Last thing, because I bought another car I didn't buy summer tires so the car comes with the Good Year Ultra Grip tires bought last year.

I must try this technique on my wife next time I want to change my car http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Good luck with your sale, the car looks superb.

Great pics -- car looks spick-and-span -- daughter in research/review mode.

Friend at work said to watch out for rust in any car residing in your neck of the woods (he said salt laid down in winter is pretty devastating). Can you say what rust there might be on/in the car ? I would expect little as Volvo's are pretty well protected and have a new car rust proof warranty I believe.

Are seats cloth or leather ?

What's the centrally located round thing on top surface of dash (above and to right of top central air vents) ?

You're right, winter is terrible in Canada. Sometimes the snow is burying the house, as a result we must wait for Spring before to open the door and exit the house http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Seriously, I don't see any rust neither on nor in the car.

the seats are cloth AND leather. Look at the pictures, you'll see the leather around the cloth. Everything else (wheel, doors, etc, is leather made.

You are talking about the Garmin permanent dash mount. I had a Garmin 196. But the dashmount is compatible with most models. If your daughter is interested to buy the car I can make it removed by the dealer. Otherwise it can be useful.
