Hi, VerVolvo,

I'm sure COastal will solve your problem, but here's my two centimes worth:-

Your post says the picture is at :-
http://www.xc70.com/pics/albums/userpics/b&b.jpg (http://www.xc70.com/pics/albums/userpics/b&b.jpg)

But if you right mouse click on where your PA is displayed, and select "Properties" you will get the address as:_
http://www.xc70.com/pics/albums/userpics/normal_B%26B.jpg

'trouble is it's not there either. Now, I'm not clever enough to go and look (hack) at the albums directory under the covers as it were - anyway I regard what you don't have access to as "private".

Another problem may be that the '&' character - a 'special' character - may cause problems in the BB's software, that's one reason why it has been translated into the string '%26'.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing; I'd either send Coastal a personal message or wait until he picks up your post.

Try http://www.xc70.com/pics/albums/userpics/B%26B.JPG and it should work. However, I think your picture is too big and, for some users on dialup connection, it will take very long time to load. You should reduce your picture size to 100 x 75 pixels.

Just a test.

I will post another post if it works..

VerVolvo,

I went into albums, found a picture and click it to full size. Right click, properties and copied that HTTP://....

Then pasted it in My Personal avtar. This worked for me.

PS I borrow a picture for test purpose, and now changed back since it is not my picture.......

Where is the picture you are trying to set as your avtar anyway?

- EDIT-

Got my own picture uploaded, but I think the location vil change later as it is screened and moved to your own album.

Am I right Coastal?

yup, it was the special character that messed things up for ya.

Have optimized the graphic, uploaded to another location and added it as your avatar.

Cheers!

Taylor

I have given up, four days now and still it is too big, it is not found, can't find it. I am not going to have one now. What happened to the old ones?

it's 85 pixels tall, max allowable is 80.

plus can't seem to find the option, but 30 k is awfully large for an avatar. try something that's not animated.. not only do the frames add to the file size, they also tend to be distracting for other users. :)

the old ones were lost with the transition unfortunately.

It you still have problems, email it to me and I will upload and attach to your profile.

Cheers!

Taylor.

Getting that animated gif back is possible, although not in the same quality as before. I did a try, and you see my result. Some work behind it also as you have to resize and lessen the size(kb's).

Thanks Viking, I have given it up at the moment, tried for over an hour the other night and everything I did was wrong so... I am not going there for some time to come. Thanks for the info though, maybe one day I will revisit this little job.
