More on too aggressive upshifting, jerky accelerator response and such.. Took the 2002 XC to the dealer, new firmware for the transmission and throttle control was downloaded using VADIS, the result is that it's like a totally different car, MUCH improved. No more touchy accelerator response, much smoother gear-gear shift and so forth. This evidently was a well known problem with cars manufactured up to mid March of 2002. Later cars have the firmware already installed.
