What's the experience been with replacing incandescent lamps in Volvos with LED chip lamps?

The previous owner of mine replaced a bunch of them with LEDs around 2016, and I just had to replace the license plate lamps. Car has been driven less than 9k miles. I checked them with an independent 12VDC power supply after removing them, and both were dead.

I've also noticed that as interior lights, some of them dim, but never really shut off. If the car uses solid-state relays, those relays may leak enough current to light them -- something you wouldn't notice with an incandescent lamp.

I replaced license plate and puddle lights with LEDs a year or so ago. No problems yet.

You need the CANBus LEDs to avoid the glowing. Also avoid the cheap LEDs. Sylvania/Osram are good. I think they call their line "LEDriving" or something like that.
