Need to install a dash cam without the traditional connection with the cigarette lighter adapter.
Guess I have two other choices, connect directly to the battery source with a fused wire or
connect to a spare fuse slot with the right fuse.

Thanks.

Seem to see some answers here with respect of not really wanting to use the cigarette lighter adapter.

Or use a fuse tap in an already occupied location.

This would be my setup.

- Identify the fuse size of the vehicle.
- Purchase an Add-A-Circuit adapter and a female cigarette lighter adapter.
- With a multimeter, locate a fuse that does not have power with ignition off.

I added a cig lighter socket behind my climate control panel and that's where the dashcam plugs in. I also wired it for a switch, as I sometimes sit in the car and listen to music and read for lunch and don't need the dashcam running.
