I am out of state, in my sons 2001, and it needs plugs. No Volvo dealership around. There are some auto parts stores. What plugs should I get? I don't have a gauge To setthe spark the gap I can have the guy at the parts store set them for me.

Any plug will work for a short time.

The difference is in the electrode material. All plugs have copper cores for conductivity. Plugs known as "copper" have steel electrodes. Platinum electrodes last longer. Iridium electrodes last even longer.

Volvo OE plugs are Iridium. I don't know who makes them. But an NGK Iridium plug is an excellent plug.

Avoid, at all costs, the marketing gimmickry known as multiple electrode plugs. They simply aren't worth the hype. Many cars perform worse on new multi-electrode plugs.

You know, (I know this is days later), but Volvo Santa Monica (or whatever it's called now) is only about 15 minutes from Venice, is that too much for him to handle?

How can you say there is no dealer near him? For LA that is literally around the corner!
