I came across this web site while looking for something else, claiming to instruct on accessing a "hidden" DTC reader in certain model Volvos including the XC70. Before posting this I tried searching on this site for the info -- seemed like if it was true somebody would have posted. Wondering if any of you knew if there's any truth to this?

Apparently it's posted by a fellow in Poland. I assume he's accumulating revenue from the advertising.

One obvious issue - without the VIDA or a printed manual to help interpret/guide repair diagnostics, just having the codes does not help all that much... anyway...

In general for the XC70 it says:

I think there's a youtube video showing how to do this. If it's impt., I'll try to find it and post the link. Anyway, I followed the procedure and was able to scroll thru all the modules and most of them indicated an error was found. No codes were provided (P0***) so it wasn't much help. I have a cheap OBDII reader that works for my 2002 that I use to read/clear codes.

There are no "modules" for some that are on that list

If I remember correctly, it only says if this or that module has active errors, and that's it. Useless.

I've been aware of that "feature" for years but never found it of much use.
