I am having a lot of brake dust coat the rims of my tires and have difficulty cleaning the rims.  Any products/suggestions on cleaning them? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

A2Z Wheel Cleaner from your local auto shop. Spray on liberally, leave for 30 secs., hose off with a jet spray, then wipe the wheels with a cotton cloth making sure you dry them completely.

You will be happy http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

A coat of auto wax on them will make them clean up much easier too.

I replaced nearly new Volvo brake pads with PBR Deluxe pads from IPD on my 98XC. Brake dust problem solved! They grab better too, almost too abruptly like the 240 series brakes. I prefer this once I got used to it. The improvement may also have been due to meticulous cleaning of discs, etc prior to reassemble though.
P21s cleaner worked well prior to the pad upgrade which is available from IPD, Bavarian Autosport, etc.

Welcome aboard Stevenrsella!  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Glad to hear your getting great performance from the PBR pads. Are these available for the new gen XC's? The only ones that I'm familiar with are the Mintex pads on IPD's site. Have you experienced any brake squeal with your own PBR pads?

Art,

Posting about the squeal issue and deluxe pads. Well if you have a shim or a good coat of the blue anti squeal on the pad backing plates they are real quiet. If you don't they can get noisy. I have run several sets on BMW's and have always been pleased with their performance.

Thanks for that good piece of advice on the squeal issue Jason. I'm coming up on 45,000 km and the front pads will need to be switched out. Sounds like the ones from Mintex create the least amount of dust also.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Try these out, 302 Zimmerman rotor, Volvo pad. They are quiet, strong, and little dust.
