Squeaky rear seats on 98 V70XC - HELP!!

Just bought a used 98 Cross Country with 62K miles. So far so good, but I do have a fairly regular squeak coming from one or more of the rear seats when driving. When I fold the seats down the squeak goes away. Help! I am gonna go nuts! Any and all advice is appreciated!

I have the same squeak with a 1998 V70 XC with only 17,000.  Seems to be the passenger side rear seat latch mechanism because it goes away when seat down.  Haven't figured out a way of getting rid of it yet.  Keep trying, and pass on any solutions.

I found a fix!!!  I think it was on the volvo turbobricks website.

Spray some inexpensive silicon lubricant on the latch located in the seat back.  It fixed it for me.  No squeak for a whole week!

I have tried all kinds of lubricants with none offering long term fixes.  My latest attempt was to melt candle wax onto the latch.  This has lasted for over 3 months now.

Vaseline applied a month ago is still working on my '98
