It was simple to do, Just made sure to have new hose clips/ o rings, 9/16 OD clear tubing, teflon tape, crush washer and Toyota Fluid.

First drop out of the pan ~ it looked like motor oil.

Ran 13 quarts through it of equal measures expelled - running through the gears R, 1,2 and 3 = 4 and 5 wont engauge to flush through.

What a Difference in the shifting and operation of the transmission now - And thanks for being such an helpful site.

Left to right from start to finish.

How many miles were on it? I did mine @ 96K same ugly color, no noticeable improvements in shifting so that's ok by me.

124k now.

Got a new factory trany around 60k in '05 according to the paperwork.

Bought it for youngest son 11 months ago @ 120k and the service record showed a complete tune up two months prior with the Berkley Mechanic removing and re-adding 4 quarts of transmission fluid along with motor oil, plugs. Got records for a lot of this on this car with motor mounts, suspension, tie rods, cv joints - and they are all true to form.

But this transmission fluid ? Yhea- Don't depend on someone dumping 4 quarts and refilling it to then mix with old crap.

Also noticed the top motor mount is shot - Was not the last I looked .... And it tore in the front - Like he nailed the car in reverse ??

Ordered a new one- Should be here by weeks end.

Anyone know how I can get a clip for the top insulation under the hood - All are there but one - and it is sagging and rubbing/resting on the intercooler tube currently.

If I can't locast a simple clip - I'll squirt some silicone between the engine hood and insulation matting ~ and let it set up in a rest position in the down position against a cut piece of wood.

IDK where to get a simple clip for this ?

These clips I have used, http://www.ebay.com/itm/10x-Volvo-VW-Bonnet-Boot-Carpet-Insulation-Heat-Shield-Lining-Fastener-Clip-/280960545708?hash=item416a8db3ac:m:mGLimSv7cOwNJdJ nHLl7tEQ

It's very satisfying to watch the dark to red transition on ATF changes.

As for your upper torque mount, if you have the old round style, the front and rear is SUPPOSED to rip. That part does not do anythiing
As long as the top and the bottom is secure, it's fine

JRL - Can you school me on this by chance as I do not understand what you are saying that it supposed to rip .... It just doesn't make sense to me along with the bold jumping. If that was the case - Then it should not be there in the first part ??

The mount pictured is completely shot. Replace it with the new design "square" one. Don't get cheap mounts, they don't last. Torque on that nut is high, like 45 ft lbs. can't look it up right now as I'm in Colorado, but you need a new mount.

Probably have a few others that need replacing as well. Lower torque mount is likely shot since it's been taking all the load with this one gone...

He said the front and rear he did not say the entire mount was completely gone
I disagree on the mount
I like the older round mounts for several reasons.
I like the feel of it better
I like the fact that you can SEE when to replace it before it fails completely and more...
They're cheaper!

The lowers are not called torque mounts by Volvo
The front lower (right side) is called the "engine pad" and if it has 100K miles on it, I can almost guarantee it's shot.
Same with the rear "dog bone" mount

Too bad because it will fail again in 12 months. I remember messing about with the round mount, the square mount, didn't matter they all broke within a year. Then I installed the IPD poly bushing (https://www.ipdusa.com/products/5768/112517-polyurethane-upper-engine-stabilizer-mount-bracket) 6 years ago and haven't thought about that damm engine mount again.

BS
These should last between 30 and 50K miles.
Again, the front and rear portions are not stressed and will disintegrate. What you need to look for are complete tears at the top and/or the bottom of the rubber
Poly bushings= too much vibration
