Hello everyone.

I've been in search for the OEM trailer hitch for my 2007 XC70 for a while. I saw one once on ebay about four months ago but wasn't ready to commit. Now I'm ready to buy but I can't find one anywhere! The dealer is trying to charge over 8 hundred for parts... so that's not happening!

Anyone have any ideas?

I have this one on my R and it tucks up nicely and is pretty unobtrusive. I have no reason to think on the XC's different rear bumper that the hitch wouldn't fit up just as nice. If you get this one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Trailer-Hitch-Class-II-1-25-in-Receiver-Rear-fits-01-09-Volvo-S60-/231850241161?fits=Year%3A2005%7CMake%3AVolvo%7CMod el%3AXC70%7CSubmodel%3A2.5T%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A2.5L&hash=item35fb59ec89:g:LWsAAOSwzgRWxmsk&vxp=mtr) it comes with the euro ball mount which I would recommend versus the usual North American straight bar mount. Looks better and a bit easier on your shins should you forget it is back there sticking out.

Cheers,

Bill

I have Curt installed on my 05 XC70 as well. No problems with it besides this is the only rusty part in my car :)

Can I trouble you gents who've already installed the Curt hitch to post picture of how it looks? Thanks.

The OEM hitch is $400 MSRP but can be got for about $300 online, the part number is #30682087. Advantage of the OEM over the Curt hitch is the OEM blends into a cutout in the bumper, the Curt hitch will install below the bumper but it fairly unobtrusive. You will need a 1.25" step up drawbar to correctly balance full size trailers. You can get an aftermarket wiring harness for about $50 but the OEM plugs into the REM without having to tap into wires and gives a cleaner install. You need the controller module #30664974 and the wiring harness #30664651 which together will set you back about $170 so you decide if it's worth it or not. I have the Curt hitch with aftermarket harness and its been trouble free as you'd expect, even when towing 4,500lbs across town!

I have the Curt as well. I paid $125 on Amazon with free Prime shipping. Zero reason to go OEM or pay dealer prices.

Install was extremely easy, and it came with the necessary hardware and ball mount.

If you're not one to turn a wrench, check UHaul. I priced one there, and IIRC it was about $200 inc.installation.

And UHaul, Hidden Hitch, Curt... it really doesn't matter, I've read they're all made by the same company.

As far as looks, it tucks right up against the bumper, you can barely see it, and wouldn't notice unless you were looking for it.

Here are a few of my install. You will pickup muffler hanger bolt holes & stack the hitch & muffler mount.

Thanks everyone. I guess I'll go ahead and order one up. Those pictures really help. They're ridiculously cheap on amazon right now too. I'll add that to my December to do list.

Its going to be a very busy month!!!

Argh!!! I just got my hitch from amazon and they sent the wrong one! I would prefer this one more but it won't fit and its only rated for 2000 pounds.

That's really annoying.

Geeze! It just doesn't end. I got the correct hitch from amazon and have it installed however... the ball mount I had from my 98 v70 doesn't fit (I run into clearance issues with the bumper). Now it looks like I need a longer ball mount or perhaps a euro style one. Any suggestions?

Well , it is made with concealment in mind. My ball mounts do extend past the bumper so I got lucky with it.
