2006- I was giving my car a wash today. Noticed that the headlamp lenses are starting to fog. It is now just the upper 2", but I fear it will spread. What has anyone done to restore the plastic headlamp covers? What works best ? How do I maintain it once I 'clear' it up?

Works best? OEM replacement headlights. Polishing up the plastic doesn't bring it anywhere near new-headlight clarity.

I opted for the OEM Euro S60 headlights in my V70. S60 for the looks and European one for the H7 headlight bulbs (more options than the US version H13 or H11 or whatever it was).

The pictures don't do the dramatic difference justice between polished and new headlights;

Are the European versions still plastic?

Headlight refinishing works pretty well if done by a pro

Yes, you see a lot of cars with worse headlights than Volvos. Benzes, every older Jap car, etc

Buy the kit, mask off your paint, follow directions, don't skip grits or steps, and use lots of elbow grease. I've polished out the headlights on our '06 Corolla a couple of times...worked really well. Lots of products to protect from UV, choose one and use it when you're done.

Try Sylvania headlights restoration kit. If the car sees a lot of highway, polished headlights will last for maybe two weeks to two months, but otherwise it works well. I would guess, that if you take headlights out, polish, dry and *spray* with a good UV coat, it will last longer.

Last time I just tried Wipe New, it certainly takes less effort than Sylvania ;)

That's my headlight right after Sylvania: http://bit.ly/2azxAXh

I used the Meguiar's Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit with great success.

I actually took the headlights out and carefully removed the black plastic "gasket" surrounding the lights as well.

Sadly, yes. You can polish yours to buy a few more months out of them, but it's a **** solution and you still need to replace the headlights soon.
