I have had my XC70's oil analyzed many times over the years. Here is a link to the latest using Mobil 1 0w40. It is a little confusing but read through the old post and then see the new results on the far right. Just thought I'd post it here for those interested in this kind of stuff. Here is the link:

Thanks for sharing.
Previous owner was running 5w-40, I've been running 0w-40 for the last
9 months-these cars love 40 weight oils.

The Mobil 1 0W40 has done very well in my V70. Here is mine from a while back:

As well as a Pennzoil Ultra 5W40 run in the XC:

For my money, you can't beat the M1 0W40. It's $23 for a 5Qt jug and it performs as well or better than any oil on the market.

+1 to Mobil or Castrol 0w-40.
With the rebate Mobil was running last month...My net purchase price for a jug of Mobil 0w-40 was $13.00.
An amazing value.

That was an amazing value. I picked up the 6-quart box at Costco and it came out to $14 after the rebate check arrived.
It was a test - Costco wasn't listed as one of the approved retailers, but I still got the check. Now that I know, I'll get three cases next time that discount is available.
