Faint fuel smell

Hi Guys,

I have a 2004 XC70 with 169000 on it. I can smell gas after I stop the car on the outside faintly. It's not on the inside and I can't see any leaks. it will happen if I have a 1/4 tank or a full tank ???

When I got my 02 it had a fuel smell outside at the right rear, the filter was slightly wet with fuel, I removed it and it was a little porous with rust under the fixing clamp, It was a little past due for a replacement, quick fix thankfully.

Cracked fuel pump, bad line, bad filter. It'll be worse on the passenger side of the car, since the pump's below the right rear seat. You need to get this looked at now, leaking fuel often results in fire...

There's a fuel pump recall for your model year. Take it to a dealer and see if they will cover it. You may be not be eligible due to age/miles, but some dealers will service it or cut you a break on parts/labour
