On my last trip to Tahoe, while stuck on the shoulder trying to make a u turn, and after I burn half my front tires, I realized that the rear wheels were not turning. The rear differential was not ding its thing. I have always pride my self in owning this car and telling everyone that it was made for the snow... just for this to happen.

Does anyone know where I should start looking? It's an 04 with 190K miles.

Thanks.

Mechanical Test:
1- jack up one (only) front wheel
2 - put car in neutral
3 - by hand, turn the wheel in the air
4 - observe drive shaft, it should turn
If 4 fails, the angle gear or transmission is faulty.

Electronically:
Get a VIDA/DiCE scan. Could be DEM, pump, or pressure/temp sensor.

Forget the jacking bit, with 190K you will have some expensive repairs to get your AWD working again
Either you need a new angle and collar gear or a, Haldex DEM, pressure sensors, etc
Just take it to the shop unless you can do all the work
