On other cars I have tried dye's...Didn't like how it turned out.
On my XC'; I have tried Mothers products, Armorall ( never thought I would ), and
Meguires...
The product that has lasted the longest without streaking or fading has been Stoners.
Never heard of it until I was browsing a detailing' forum regarding the trim on a Chevy Astec( lots of plastic)...Apart from being a solid product...it's the least expensive of all of the products I have tried and easy to apply (it's an aerosol can).
The below application was applied two months ago...Car has been washed once and sat outside.
Hope this helps someon trying to give "life" to their fading trim.

That is good to know, thanks!

I bought some Armor All Outlast, and it worked OK, but between the grille and the hood there are some streaks in the plastic that it did nothing for. I thought they may have contained residue from other products, but after scrubbing them and applying the Armor All they remained pretty much the same.

While most of the exterior plastic parts on my XC are still looking great (don't know how, haven't done a thing to them since ownership in 2012 and it's mostly parked outdoors undertrees) I'll keep this product in mind.

One thing that I know you should watch out for is bug spray. Make sure you spray down wind of your vehicle. Wife didn't...

It was only the plastic end caps on the roof rails that got it, thank goodness.

As luck would have it, I was going to do an Amazon order, so I ordered a can of Stoners and will give it a try.

Applied MEDS ReNu Pro about 3 months ago, it is still there. Car is parked outside, it was in a pressure washer once, and we had quite a bit of heavy rains.

I bought some of that 303 Aerospace spray.
I used it years ago and wanted to try it again.
So far, so good

I'm Curious to how much it might cost to have the plastic painted? Anyone have experience with this?

Gotta' love that rear spoiler.
Did you take the car to have it professionally painted or DIY?

Look again.
Monotoning one of these is not for the faint hearted or a non professional painter
Everything is removed, then all the parts were smoothed out. This takes a lot of priming, sanding, priming, sanding, etc to get the plastic smooth before color is applied.
That cost me $800 in 2001

If you're repainting it black or off black, then yes, unless you're completely clumsy you should be able to do it yourself on the car with minimal trim removal.

The answer is a heat gun, I did my faded(oxidized) blue trim and was very impressed, this is the best method as it 'bakes out the oxidation" completely refreshing the surface from within, get a little rolling mechanic seat and have fun, don't worry the plastic is very durable just keep the gun moving a bit and don't fall asleep
