The intergrated 2nd row Cooler box is electrically powered. What are the details of its heat exchanger? Will it require some form of renewal after some time? ...and what about periodic maintenance? I'm hoping the instruction booklet that comes with it will explain some of this for me. I never used it in chilly Norway/Sweden after my FDC pickup and never open the instructions up http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Hey Barry, did you order the cooler box up front or at FDC?  If at FDC do you happen to have the price they sell it for?

Thanks

It was ordered originally at time of OSD deposit and it was installed and operational when I picked up the car at the FDC. It cost $290 (plus Use Tax of course). Many other OSDers at FDC same day as me were extemely interested in it and at one time I had three OSDers all looking at it. They seemed impressed with its integration and went off to see what FDC could do for them. Most of these OSDers had absolutely no idea the Integrated Cooler box was available for the XC70.

I'm pleased with it at this point and really makes that 2nd row of seats look quite substantial.

N.B. It only comes in one color -- Anthracite Gray and for me it fits in perfectly with my all graphite interior and appears seamless with the adjacent seats and surroundings. You must also have the 40/20/40 split rear seat. If you spring for this I would also suggest you get the Seat Divider ($32) that sits behind it as it blocks off the opening to the cargo area and provides several useful storage pockets and keeps the pets at bay http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

That's a good price if you can swing FREE shipping. The cooler box is quite large and I guesstimate weighs over 20 lbs. I don't think its installation is in anyway difficult (don't know for sure mind you as FDC installed it) as I found its removal very easy. It can be stowed in cargo area if needed for the extra 2nd row seating and be powered by the rear cargo 12v outlet -- very handy that rear cargo 12v outlet http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Can anyone who has the cooler box tell me if this is a similar product?

It obviously doesn't have the integration that the Volvo cooler does, but it's also quite a bit cheaper.   Does the Volvo unit heat as well as cool?

Thanks,
Jon
