So we recently noticed a somewhat strong odor of gasoline in our garage as the weather has heated up.

Today we took the V70 XC to a local (non-Volvo) repair shop that took a look, tested for evap pressure and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

After some reading it sounds like the fuel pump on this model has been recalled and has been known to cause smells as we are experiencing.

Two questions:

1) If we bought it used does the recall still apply even if we live in WI
2) since there is no fuel leak visible, the pressure was checked and there are no CEL warnings - could this just be a temporary thing that will go away?

Any other wisdom or tips greatly appreciated!

I think that the recall warranty is likely over after 13 years...but they replaced my pump at 9 years for the same thing, so you might ask...

And yeah, if you smell gasoline, it's a leak. They don't get better...and liquid gasoline on the underside of the car will eventually ruin your day...

Well, it's sounding like the best course of action is a trip to the local Volvo Service Center since the non-volvo repair place didn't find anything faulty.

Thanks for the advice!
