I like the design of new XC90. For 2016 model, dealers doesn't have big discounts and the shared prices by others in autopriceshare are all above invoice. A local dealer give me $1300 off MSRP for T6 Momentum and I am going to take this deal.
Since 2016 model has many improvements and changes, I am not so sure about its reliability. Some people here are specialists of Volvo, what do you think about the new XC90? For the new 2016 model, Should I pay $3225 for 3 years extended warranty?
Any suggestions are helpful for me.

For most of us here, spending money on an extended Volvo warranty would of been a waste of money. If you're not the kind of person to 'turn your own wrenches' and require a Volvo shop to do repairs (or the dealership), then yes, perhaps you should get it if it makes you feel better. I've never bought an extended warranty because I also have an expectation of the vehicle being reasonably durable. Your state also has pretty good lemon laws that if the vehicle becomes problematic, you can force the manufacturer to be responsible for repair costs.

So - it's up to you in the end. If you have a good mechanic, save the money and take the family on a nice vacation.

No one will be able to "turn wrenches" on this one for quite a while

It's 3 Years before OEM parts can be offered in Europe so not long as the 'Hunk of metal and 4 pieces of Rubber' normally comes with a 3 year Warranty in Europe.

Did someone move this post as it seems to be in the right place for XC90 stuff.....

They must have.
If you plan to keep this after the warranty ends, I would have bought a warranty (you still can).
This is a first year model and things WILL go wrong past 50K miles.

Warranty for the old XC90 cost much more than $3400!

In 45 years of owning & driving Volvo's I have never had an Extended Warranty, and never wished for one.

Present car has just hit 70,000 Miles with no problems.

Regular maintenance and a bit of TLC goes a very long way to ensuring reliability, durability, and trouble free motoring.

Took a 2016 XC90 out for an extended test ride yesterday while dropping off the 2011 for it's last 'Free' Service interval.
FWIW, my wife drives it, 27k miles and outside of the rear cargo cover somehow causing the Position Indicating lights to stay on and run down the battery, zero problems.
Battery is being replaced under warranty.
On to the 2016 XC90.
It's nothing spectacular, in fact the Cayenne loaners I get, actually ride better.
But and this is the BIG BUT, the safety features are impressive.
Was told Apple CarPlay will be available.
So waiting for model with air suspension, CarPlay and HUD to drive before ordering one.
The T8 is just too expensive for not much (17 miles quoted E Mode).
I'm going to be real cautious and much prefer second year model.
Also only going to give me $1K Loyalty discount.
Will tell them to give me a call when sold at invoice.
There are a lot of attractive SUV's out there and after purchasing three XC70's from the Dealership, I can't get a discount, I walk.
Maybe a nice Escalade or Yukon! which a lot of my friends drive!-Richard
BTW, for each XC70, I purchased Volvo OEM Extended Warrenty.
So far I'm about even with the first two, $4000 for both warrenties, $4500 paid out for repairs. ($500 deductible).
No way I'm 'turning a wrench' on these cars!
