OK, So I went to my local Volvo dealer to get some service (screwed over) on my 01' XC70.  I have brought my car to them before to get the fuel door lock fixed.  When I hit lock on my key FOBs the fuel door does not lock.  According to the owners manual when you hit the lock button "all doors, hatch and fuel door" lock.  My dealer says that it is on a timer.  I have waited up to 45 minutes for it to automagicaly lock.  No Dice!  Now if I hit unlock on the FOB and wait the 2 minutes the car will re-lock itself providing no doors are opened.  This is when the Fuel door locks!  Am I to assume that the fine folks at Volvo want us to hit unlock, wait 2 minutes, then let the car secure itself?  I am sure that this is not the norm.  Please tell me that your 2001 XC70 locks the fuel door when you hit lock on the FOB!  I am going back to the dealer, but need some ammo.  I am sick and tired of them jerking me around.  They already said that some items aren't covered under the 50,000 mile warranty and that "diagnostic charges" may apply to some items that fail.  What they want is to charge me to fix the darn thing.  Any help is much appreciated...  Thanks for letting me vent ;-) http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/devil.gif

Welcome to the site ytaebnairb! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'm afraid your dealer may be partially correct about waiting for the fuel filler door to lock. However, the manual clearly states that the fuel door should lock once the lock button on the remote is pressed. This is also not the case for my car and I'm confused as to why Volvo would make such conflicting statements. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

The fuel filler door on my MY2001 XC locks after a 10 minute delay upon using the locking feature on the keyless remote. This is also confirmed in my owners manual. (Pg. 79)

If you intend to leave your car while it is being refueled, this feature enables you to lock the doors/trunk while leaving the fuel filler door unlocked.[/QUOTE]<span id='postcolor'>

You definitely have a case if your wait is any longer than that. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif

Could an old, failing battery in the key be causing &quot;havoc&quot;? Perhaps the battery in it needs to be replaced. Has this been a tproblem ever since it was new? Example: Highway &quot;Eazy-pass&quot; users discovered they were having trouble with &quot;Eazy-pass&quot; batteries burning out and therefore not signalling at the tool gates&#33;&#33; We replaced ours.

My 02&#39; lock it right away. Tell the dealer to go &#036;%&amp;&#036;### himself. Call Volvo. This is part of the 4/50K warranty. Don&#39;t let them tell you it isn&#39;t. I would try the battery first though.

I know there were several problems with key fobs/remotes and I have had two sets issued since. &nbsp; This sounds like a different issue though. &nbsp;Write the owner of the dealership and demand that they fix this issue, before it becomes a headache for them and you.
