Car wont drive forward or backwards when in drive!

My 2002 V70XC AWD, will not drive froward or backwards. Transmission wants to engage but something is preventing it. Is this the parking pawl gone wrong? I looked up Shift Interlock Solenoid and this seems to make sense. I have never heard of this strange event happen to cars. Please advise. Any input would be much appreciated. More details please. Does the selector move? Then it's not the shift interlock. Does the engine rev? Have you checked the fluid level? Is this when cold?

Have you checked to see if an axle popped out, or you blew a CV joint?

It happened for a few seconds to my wife yesterday in a parking lot.
She was going back n forth to get out of a very tight parking spot.

After a few seconds, it went into gear. The car was COLD... (-30 deg C / -22 deg F). I guess the fluid was too cold or something else.

Probably not the same issue as your.

As for your issue, can you move the car when selector is in PARK ? If so, it is one of the axles.
