Rear windows?

I am a 2005 XC70 owner with a dog. I am looking to buy a 2010 or newer XC70. The rear windows in my 2005 would only go down about 2/3 of the way. My dog hates it.
Do the rear windows in the newer models go down all the way?

The windows on the rear doors go down so that there are 2 to 4ish inches (never measured) of the window still showing. Very few modern cars have the rear door windows go down all of the way.

I think it has been a Volvo 'safety feature' for a very long time as I seem to remember a 1969 144S I had was exactly the same.

Agreed. The lower rear portion of the door is radiused to clear the wheel opening and thus will not allow room for the window to recede completely. Nearly all 4 door cars today are designed this way
