Thumping Noise From the Back

Hi guys,

Since 2 days, I've been hearing a thumping noise from the back, it sounds as if the tire has a bump in it or is flat.

I checked the tire and it's fine, but I did see this piece of rubber (some dust cover I imagine) all torn up (see attached photo).

Could this be causing that sound?
And if so, what's it called and/or is there a part number for it?

that looks to be your CV boot. but I don't see the grease splattered everywhere that was inside of it.

It might have been washed off, we had rain and snow (so salted roads) the past few days.

Any idea which part I should replace? (Rear right axle)
