Need Help Please!
Getting the "Bulb Failure, Dipped Beam" error message. Just bought this 2001 XC70 (89,000 km). It was kept in awesome shape. The passenger side low beam is out, the driver side works. High beams work.
1) Switched both bulbs out with new ones.
2) Swapped the 10A fuse between the two sides.
3) Checked the shunts for continuity. They seem to be ok.
4) Checked the plug for the bulb. There is no 12V going to it.
If it is the CEM, is there a schematic to trouble shoot the board inside?
Thanks.

Probably a bad socket, they burn up

I will check the harness before the socket and let everyone following this tread know the results. Thanks for replying.
12/4/14 - Haven't checked yet, coach a travel volleyball team (not time yet) but looking at the electrical diagram, my friend (Tony) figured out if there is power at the fuse, then the CEM should be Ok and there is a break between the fuse and the headlight. This is a know problem with these cars. That's why there is a retro fit kit for this problem. The part number is 30652028.

My sockets both got brittle and crumbled to dust - I now just push the two individual spade clips directly onto the bulb terminals.

Well, thank you for all the view and advice. I am the example of a little knowledge can be dangerous. I replaced the high beam bulbs instead of the low beam bulbs. It was my friend, Tony, who realized that I replaced the inside bulbs and not the outside ones. Went to Walmart at 10:30pm (holiday hours), picked up the H7's plugged them in and holy smokes the message is now gone.
