The law in Europe states that there is only a need to have one rear fog, that being the off side (side nearest the centre of the road) but the car has all the guts for a second.

Is there any Country that has two working rear fog lights and if anyone knows, how can I get the other one to work? putting a bulb in does not do it. I cannot think that volvo make a seperate harness for one sided fogs so any ideas where I can find the hook up for the LHS light. I also do not believe it is illegal to show two rear lights when driving (in fog) but find it annoying when you only see one in the distance because it looks like you are following a motorbike. Any ideas from our auto-electricans please.

It don't think it would be a good idea to have two rear fog lights. Drivers behind you may get confused as you are braking or not.

As a UK esident who frequently travels over the channel, I feel TWO rear fogs are the best thing, to have ones RHS assumed to be your LHS by the Continental truck following sounds positivyly awful.
Also anything that gets you noticed that fraction of a second sooner must be a good thing.
Just to go slightly off subject though, with the new generation LED rear lights now turning up on some vehicles maybe rear fogs will be redundant?

I'm sure my old 850 had both fog lights working, but then some 'orrible bureaucrat in BXL decided that twin lights might confuse following drivers into thnking that you were braking?  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sneaky2.gif So for the sake of "Harmonization" we all have to have Cyclopedian fog lights http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/crazy.gif  Nobody stopped to point out what Geo has just said, and forgot that some provision ought to be made for the crazy Brits who insist on driving on the wrong side....

I think a lateral argument applies why many? most? cars only have one reversing light.  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif

I bet it's all down to programming in one of the many ECUs, patch a 'bit' to enable the other side light, or possibly just a fuse not installed - There are lots of spare 'ways' in the rear fuseboard.

Be very careful if you do a mod: as your car will then cease to be type approved, and the Thought Police will come and take you away to the funny farm!

Our 740 Gle has two. One very foggy night as I was switching beams to find the best visablity, a voice on the Cb said "Hey, little car, please stop stepping on your brakes". Volvo then switched to one rear fog light which i think is the best. I don't know if the rear fog light goes off if you use your brights as previously?-Dick
