xc70 2007 hard at times turning over some times and a code poor engine performance

have a hard time with the engine turning over some time.{would crank couple time dead stop and then start again to me it not loose wire} then when it started it said poor engine performance. I was just on road trip and
only got 21mpg highway..ithought I'd get more on any thoughts? can it be the EMT thanks in advance Patrick

Crank position sensor, perhaps? Do a VIDA scan and it will tell you even if the sensor is operational but only marginal.

If it's original, change it

Had similar issue 2 years ago, it was the crankshaft sensor. Read the VIDA codes.
