Volvo sponsors Canadian ski instructors, coaches
TORONTO (Date)- Volvo Cars of Canada Ltd. today announced an agreement to sponsor the Canadian Ski Instructors' Alliance (CSIA) and the Canadian Ski Coaches Federation (CSCF).

The agreement makes Volvo Canada the "official sponsor" of the CSIA/CSCF and makes the 2004 Volvo XC70 the "official vehicle" of the two ski associations.

"This sponsorship agreement affords Volvo great exposure to a relevant consumer market that will utilize our vehicles in a very appropriate manner - enjoying the great outdoors," says Larry Futers, Volvo Canada's vice-president, marketing.

Montreal-based CSIA and CSCF certify more than 22,000 ski instructors and coaches across Canada. They represent 270 ski schools and 170 ski clubs coast-to-coast.

Together, they impact 6.2 million visits to ski hills each season, more than any other ski association. They provide ski instruction and training at such well-known ski resorts as Whistler Blackcomb, Silver Star, Big White, Sun Peaks, Lake Louise, Blue Mountain, Mont Tremblant and Mont Sainte-Anne, among others.

I also recall seeing an ashgold XC with 'Panorama Ski Resort' emblazoned across it in dark lettering while driving somewhere along Calgary's Deerfoot Trail last year. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif

I'll stick to the USSA/USST Chevy Tahoe. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif
It's good to see the USST alligned with an American car company compared to the 15+ years that Subaru was the official car.

Now that's some cool news, and nice to see they're choosing to give the 70 some much needed attention as the 90 seems to have been stealing the show lately. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Art...interesting news...thanks...it would be cool to contact the CSIA /CSCF at some point to see if we can get some feedback on the xc70's performance, as well as maybe some photo's "in-action". I wonder what the rationale was behind the choice of the 70 vs the 90.

Has anyone found any information as to how the vehicles are performing for these groups?

Kayaking,

I could be wrong here, but I'm not too sure if we'll be seeing any officially tagged CSIA XC's tooling around the ski hills. Volvo's corp affiliation with these organizations sounds more like a benefit program for its paid members. According to their website, all CSIA/CFCF/CASI members will receive preferred pricing (a.k.a. the X-Plan) on select volvo models including of course the XC70.

Still, it would be nice to gather feedback from their members who have already participated in the program. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
