I am on vacation in New York state for ten days starting Sept 28th.
Does anyone know if I can hire a V70XC for a week? http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Nic,
I believe that Hertz rents Volvos. When travelling for
for NBC these were available..Give it a shot.
Beware the cabs.

Last time I checked with Hertz, it was around USD$600 for a week. Check out their website!!

I checked out hertz.com, and see that i can choose from the following:
Hertz website has the following classifications:
Lincoln Town Car or Similar; Ford Explorer or Similar, Ford Escape or Similar, Ford Windstar or Similar, Ford Expedition or Similar
Apart from the Ford bit, I reciognise the Explorer, but the rest sound like they could be large enough to match an 18 wheeler! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif
For instance, what is a 'town car'? this makes no sense to a mere Brit, and is a full size 4x4 like a Hummer ?
All I want to do is go upstate for a few days and get some scenic views.... ANyway, i have mailed Hertz, so should get a reply just after I come back (ouch http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif ) I am thinking of asking for a NeverLost®, In-Car Navigation System do you think i could ask for one with a stiff upper lip British accent (Old Boy!http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Here's the XC's description from Hertz.
It's listed under their Prestige Line and is only available in selected locations.
Hope this helps. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
