I have been searching internet whole day but didnt find any tutorial anywhere how to actually remove HU 850 external amplifier under passenger seat from XC70. I cant figure out how to take it off and what are precautions - if I disconnect amp - does it run some error messages in control unit ? Looks like I have to take off whole passenger seat to remove amplifier ...or is there any other way ? I cant believe its that hard to access that amplifier... ?

Are you replacing the Amplifier? or just wanting to get rid of it.

Removing it will not set any error messages but you will need to build a new wiring harness in order to bypass or your radio will not work.

If you just want to replace it here is the instructions from the repair manual.

Move the seat to the front upper position.
Remove the air duct.
Fold the floor carpet to one side at the front mounting.
Remove the screw from the front mounting.
Fold out the floor carpet at the rear mounting.
Remove the screw from the rear mounting.
Pull out the amplifier slightly.
Disconnect the three connectors.

Install:
In reverse order.

Hint: Wedge the screw in the sleeve using a little paper to insert the screw properly. Otherwise there is a risk of losing it.

At best you need to unbolt the two front seat bolts and have someone hold up the seat while you get at the amp
SEAT HAS TO COME UP AT LEAST PART WAY

Thank you guys. Am a bit disappointed how difficult is actually dismount hu 850 from front panel ( spent whole daay on it) and also I see is difficult to pull out amp. I have problem with hu 850 as when I start engine and turn radio on there is some clicking for about 2 minutes before sound appear - Its either problem with hu 850 or with amp. SO I needed pull everything out.Is amp or radio connected to car diagnostic ? I dont think diagnostic can report something ..or Am wrong ? If I understand properly if I pull out amp and disconnect cables from it - it dont trigger an error ´message ? Is somewhere some wiring scheme for amp,m cables between amp and for hu 850 ? I found some links on matthewvolvosite but it has been removed. SOmebody here have some schema or something related to amp hu 850 or wiring ?

Thank you Hook. Is that scheme for HU 850 ? Possibly dont you hjave any more technical or wirimg schemes for hu 850 ?

I think if I find out that its problem in amp - than I think its prolly not worth to pay for repair. What amps can I use instead original one ( can this original amp be bought somewhere as new ?) I have xc70 with highest audio setup with subwoofer, 6 speakers + center speaker. If I decide to replace amp ( if I found amp is my problem) can I use another (different) amp ? Can you guys recommend me some amps which I can buy and will be compatible with my HU 850 system ? Can I use same cabling or all cables has to be changed or just some reduction whioch can be bought somewhere ? Will all work with different amp ?

The center speaker is power by the tuner/head unit/part in the dash with knobs on it :)
On page 124 of the .pdf the center speaker is #16/26. All the other speakers are powered by the external amp.
