Exhaust compability

I was wondering how compatible the 2.5T exhaust systems are with the XC70. For example, if I had a complete exhaust system including manifold from a V70R or a S60R, would it be a bolt-on setup? Would it be equivalent to putting on a performance exhaust? Just curious.

V70R yes, but you will have to trim your bumper to get it to sit in right. S60R is slightly shorter so you would need to weld in an extension somewhere before or after the front resonator IIRC. As for performance exhaust, the R model exhaust is 0.25" larger, but still consists of a restrictive cat and a baffled muffler, so there is a very slight gain, but not very noticeable. I'd say keep your stock cat-back exhaust and opt for a downpipe with a racing cat. I forgot which year the "R" manifold was implemented on all models, you may already have the updated manifold on your engine.
