Hello,

Looking to get a set, front and back, of R brakes on an '06 xc70.
I need to know few specific things before pulling the trigger.

1. Do I need or have to have R dust shields and can they be fitted on xc?
2. Can I still have my e-brake fully functioning and if so do I need extra specific parts to make it happen?
3. What brand rotors and pads have a good compromise with keeping wheels clean and good stopping power?
4. What is minimum wheel back spacing to clear calipers, front and back?
5. Do I need or have to have turning radius brackets installed with 235 tires?

If anyone has this info or other that I need to know please share it here.

Thanks a lot.

I'm looking for a clean set of calipers and other parts involved so if anyone has it for sale please let me know.

A simple search ("r brakes") of this particular forum will reveal Ocean Racer's conversion (http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?19336-Swapping-XC-brakes-for-R-Brembos/page3&highlight=brakes). Also take a look at the parts diagrams in VIDA. That should give you all the info you need.

Have fun,

Bill

Thanks Bill, that post is very good.
I don't have vida access but maybe ipd can help with that.

I don't have vida access but maybe ipd can help with that.

Considering what you are thinking of doing, getting hold of a copy of VIDA (its free out there if you do a search) would be very helpful as it is the dealer "parts book" with diagrams and part numbers. Highly recommended.

Good luck with your mods

Cheers,

Bill

Bump, for the info:

1. What brand rotors and pads have a good compromise with keeping wheels clean and good stopping power?
2. What is minimum wheel back spacing to clear calipers, front and back?
3. Do I need or have to have turning radius brackets installed with 235 tires?
