Welcome to the new V70XC.com forums!

So, what do you think?!

I'll be working over the next couple of days tweaking and customizing, but overall the transition has gone very smoothly.

Post your opinions... I'm all ears!

Very refreshing Taylor,

Right down to the cool looking emoticons! Keep up the good work! http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Feels faster so far as well. Thanks for taking the time to continually improve/expand the community Taylor.

Been lurking lately more than posting. Crazy travel schedule.

Whoah! As I type this, a new XC70 commercial just came on. I'm off to the Off-Topic forum to post about it...

The smaller font and visual style seems easier to read too.

I like the color scheme, it's easy on the eyes. Also like the emoticons.....Cooool... http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Thanks guys!

I'm not too sure about the colour scheme yet. Yes, I like the existing one too, but I'd like to customize it to have it look more like the rest of the site.

Speed is much improved as they're now located on a new server. Mike from www.combustionhosting.com, a fellow Cross Country enthusiast, has offered to assist me with hosting, hence the massive speed improvements with the new software. I'll be moving the rest of the site over as soon as I get these forums set up properly.

I hope these new speed improvements will get everyone more involved with the site now, as I know forum speed has been a major problem recently.

Strange... for some reason, Lance's (mox575) post didn't show up until I hit reply and reviewed the post.

Let me know if you see any other weird stuff. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I'm having problems staying logged in, you guys? Might be since I am running two systems with the same username, but I'm not entirely sure. You having problems?

Taylor,

After attempting several replies in the off-topic forum, I still can't view the post when I return to the forum. Only when I hit add reply can I see my posts in the section where it says the last 10 in reverse order. Any suggestions?   http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Very good and faster too. The icons are little to large thou.
Thanks Taylor for keeping this site.

Taylor,

I seem to having some login problems too. The board didn't remember my preference for cookied login from yesterday. Same computer.

Art, I fixed the invisible post issue. Looks like yours and Lance's were posted when a setting was enabled that required I approve the posts prior to public display.

Added your posts in the OT section as well, thanks!

Shouldn't happen again. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

OK, I'm pretty sure I've fixed the cookie issue this time

It was having a problem setting cookies when the forums loaded in a frame.

Nevermind me...  http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Photos in posts sometimes seem to overlap to cover up the next post e.g. the photo from Coastal in " Volvo wheels" covers up the next post from Art. I had to suppress photos in my profile to be able to see Art's post.

I find that the cookies are not set or recognised for automatic log in, even when checked. Also, I am asked to log in sometimes during a session after having already logged in.

The font size in the reply message screen is too small.

Thanks for the comments Prepo, helps me out a bunch!

Cookie problem should be fixed now. Problem stemmed from setting the forums in frames. I've changed this now so future logins will no longer be in frames, though there may be a few remaining problems from those who've bookmarked the framed page. If you've bookmarked the forums, use the following link and you should be ok:

http://xc70.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikonboard.cgi

Also at the above page there's a link at the bottom to "Delete cookies set by this board ". If you continue to experience problems, click on the link and then login. Thereafter you should be ok.

I bumped most font sizes up one point. I agree they were too small.

The photo was my fault, it was too big for most monitor resolutions so it meddled with the way the page was rendered.

Thanks again. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Taylor.

That's much better Taylor. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I've also noticed that the speed has really picked with the new server. These new improvements should result in more traffic.

The software runs far faster and is convenient. On the other hand, the incessant attempts to install cookies is really a severe step down.

Thanks for the comments Kevin!

Yes, the new forums do rely more on cookies as a way to streamline the interactivity; such as to inform you of new posts and private messages, and so you don't have to login every time to make a post. I assume you either have your cookies turned off or running a cookie monitoring program?

Perhaps when you login tick "No" to the question "Remember my log in details?", the program might be a little less insistent on setting them. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

For now at least, cookies are the best way for websites to allow more interactive and intuitive services such as the ones mentioned. There are alternatives, but they're enormously cost prohibitive for basically everyone except for the Amazon.com's of the world.

That's not to say that the cookies on this site are harmful.
Just want to make that clear, but in certain large scale operations (certain ad serving companies for instance) the power of cookies can be a powerful tool, perhaps too powerful.

I like the new software.

I keep getting logged out at random though, not sure why.
I went to the ikonboard link that removes your cookies, still didn't help.

That's my biggest concern right now Trish... I've done a fair bit of research on the subject and thought I had the problem solved. Guess not :o

We had a problem at the start when the site was presented in frames. Perhaps you're using a cached version of the page with the frames still intact? What browser/version are you using?

PS, cool avatar, glad you found how to change that. http://xc70.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Taylor.
