Assuming it is not a blown fuse ( I have not checked yet) what else would I look for if the message center on my 2002 XC wagon has just now stopped working? All of the other dash related lights - oil, service, ABS, etc.... are working just fine.
Thanks

No other symptoms with the gauges lights? Well worst case scenario, it is the beginnings of DIM failure. There a few places that offer to rebuild them, or you can buy used, I don't know nor can I recommend anyone. If you're interested in taking a look your self here is a link to the removal of the DIM.

The message center on my '02 goes crazy in the cold and back to normal once it warms up again. Crazy can include, garbled, backwards, upside-down, partial text or just a blank screen. Been like that for a few years now, there's a connection in there somewhere that needs re soldering but I've just been living with the nonsense for the few months out of the year that it's a problem. A user came on the board and posted a fix (http://www.volvoxc.com/forums/showthread.php?18385-Instrument-Cluster-(DIM)-on-the-Fritz&p=133607#post133607) but he's never been back to explain how he found it. Others have reported success with the same fix so maybe I'll pull the DIM and give it a try one of these days.

Thanks to you both. I'll check fuses and then go from there if it is DIM failure. Saw several posts on that topic so I'll review those if needed.
