Hi guys,
I Need to know how much kms you did with your original shock absorber ?
And when you change, what brand and model you choose.

Grateful for your answer

Sachs is the OE and they work well. Changed mine at 150,000 miles, which was too late. 100 - 125 is probably a better life. You'll see a difference.

Further to Astro's comments, keep in mind that if you go too long on your struts/shocks, those impacts that are supposed to be adsorbed will instead be transmitted to other components. So by not changing the shocks, you'll see increased wear in the bushings, wheel bearings, suspension arms, etc.

Way easier and cheaper over the long go, to just do the shocks at a timely point. When this timely point depends alot on how you drive and what kind of roads you drive on. I'm sure the roads in FL are easier on the suspension then the paved tracks we have up here.

Cheers,

Bill

Started to loose the joy of driving around 112k-mi. It lasted 136k-mi, after which replaced all parts that were bolted to knuckle. All OE except LCA.

I just changed mine at 70,000 miles. I waited too long. The car was driven in upstate New York, I bought it when it had 48,000 miles on the clock. It's been stated here and on other forums that the wear depends on the condition of the roads driven. I had a rhythmic thumping under the hood, and it disappeared once the struts were replaced.

Just did the front struts, after a spring totally failed. 105k miles.
Replaced the rubber isolator and top support mount. Spring and isolator bought from local parts store (Swedish brand) strut from IPD (Sachs), should have ordered support from IPD to as their Bilstein units are half the dealer price.

Does anyone have a good parts diagram with reference to part numbers of the rear suspension?

Just been using Vida search and nothing comes up relevant for "rear suspension" only rear latteral link and rear subframe bushing. The best info I can find is by interogating "repair spring/shock absorber replacing". This gives a series of illustrations with P/N s for the special tools, but I cannot save the info (in a VM of Vida) in a form I can upload. I tried part number search but nothing came up. Nivomats (standard here for XC in 2001) brings up P/Ns but that is no help. I suggest you download the seven files from the VolvoXC forum VMPlayer+Win2K, save them to the same folder and then unzip the fist file with SevenZip, this will give you the Virtual Machine player version of Vida and you can then do these searches and see the results for yourself.
