I've been getting this noise from my car for the past
few days. Only makes noise when slightly above idle kind of like a sewing machine, bugs the crap oh of me. My searches say that it might be the turbo control valve.

Car is 02 xc70 with 184k miles. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Btw the car doesn't shake or feel rough, it only sounds rough. And it received a full stage 0 4,000 miles ago.

Hmm.
Not the TCV for sure, think elsewhere.
Try to post an audio clip

I'll try and do that after my final set of exams today.

Also occasionally clicks or pops when accelerating through 1100rpm. Throws no codes.

It's so insignificant that I'll just have my mech look at it and see if it's resolved, it's probably some loose piece of plastic.

throw some dry gas in there before anything

I was in the engine bay last night and noticed a small tear in one of the lines going into the TCV. Maybe this could be the culprit?

Absolutely. A small vacuum leak will cause it to run rough. A good excuse to get all new silicone vacuum lines & hoses. There are "kits" with multiple hose sizes and lengths specifically for our cars. I think I got nice blue hoses for my car at IPD. Can't remember sizes but folks there were super helpful and I got more than enough for about $70

Got a obd2 reader for my birthday today and determined the car has a po234 turbo over boost. Gonna bring the car by my Indy to have it checked.

Is this damaging to the turbo to drive it in this condition?

Anyone?

Doubt the car going into overboost will harm much unless it's always in overboost, try to pinpoint the cause. A faulty wastgate comes to mind, but can be other things such as a bad turbo or charge air pressure sensor. I'm not too familiar with turbo's let alone Volvo turbo's. They're tricky.

Well its not over boosting all the time and the turbo is fine, so I'm back to the TCV probably.
